Solar PV & battery storage · Our speciality

Make your own power. Store it. Use it when it counts.

Solar and batteries are what Max does best. Here's everything you need to know, a way to see it working through a day, and an honest estimate for your own roof.

A day with solar

Watch the sun, the battery and the grid work together.

Press play or drag through the hours. Then switch the battery off to see why it matters so much for evening bills.

Battery storage

Daytime sun, powering your evening.

A battery stores the solar you don't use at midday, so it can run your home when prices peak. Neat, quiet and sized to your usage after survey.

Your roof, your numbers

Estimate what solar could do for you.

Answer what you can. Every "Not sure" uses a typical value and lowers the confidence, so the result is always honest about what it knows.

Where is the property?

Sunshine varies across the UK.

Which way does the main roof face?

Check a map app: the side facing the midday sun is south.

Is the roof shaded?

Trees, chimneys or taller buildings nearby.

Is someone home during the day?

Daytime use means more solar is used directly.

Not answered yet, so the estimate assumes No.

Include a battery?

Stores daytime solar for the evening.

Not answered yet, so the estimate assumes Yes.

Are you on (or open to) a smart time-of-use tariff?

Cheaper overnight power a battery can store.

Not answered yet, so the estimate assumes No.

How this is worked out: panels × 0.43 kWp × regional yield × roof direction × shading. Self-use depends on daytime occupancy and battery. Using 26.32p/kWh import and 12p/kWh export.

  • Today's average electricity unit rate under the Ofgem price cap, Direct Debit, 1 Oct to 31 Dec 2026. Source, checked September 2026.
  • Typical Smart Export Guarantee rates range from about 4p to 15p per kWh depending on the supplier. We use 12p as a mid estimate; enter your own supplier's offer if you have one. Source, checked September 2026.
  • Typical annual output per kWp for a well-sited roof, from the EU Joint Research Centre PVGIS tool. Source, checked September 2026.
  • Regional yields used: South England 1000 kWh/kWp, Midlands & Wales 930 kWh/kWp, North England 870 kWh/kWp, Scotland & Northern Ireland 820 kWh/kWp.

No installed price or payback is shown: every system is designed and priced after survey and data capture, with zero-upfront options available where eligible. Method MAX-SOLAR-2026.2.

Ways to pay

Zero upfront is an option, not a gimmick.

We don't publish a headline price, because the right system depends on your roof, usage and goals. After survey and data capture, Max secures the best possible cost and shows every route side by side.

Buy outright

Own the system and keep every saving and export payment from day one.

Finance or monthly

Spread the cost; in many cases monthly payments can sit close to the bill savings.

Hybrid HP

A funded route where Max secures the investment and ownership can transfer to you after repayment, subject to approved terms.

Funded / Power Purchase Agreement

No upfront cost. You pay a lower agreed rate for the solar power you use, subject to assessment and terms.

The Hybrid HP model

Own your solar in time, without owning the cost today.

Hybrid HP is Max's funded route for solar and battery systems. We aim to fund or secure funding for the full project cost on your behalf. You keep the energy savings from day one, and ownership of the system can transfer to you once repayment completes, subject to assessment, eligibility, approval and agreed terms.

No upfront cost

The project is funded, so your capital stays where it is. Payments are designed to sit alongside your bill savings, not on top of them.

Ownership transfers to you

Unlike a PPA, where the funder owns the system and sells you the power, Hybrid HP is structured so the system becomes yours after the agreed term.

Compared honestly, side by side

We model Hybrid HP against the Hybrid PPA route with your own figures, so you can see ownership, obligations and end position clearly.

Worked example · Amporah x Max Energy 24/7 model

A hotel, shown both ways.

250 kWp solar, 100 kW / 200 kWh battery and Gateway Pro. About 210,000 kWh used on site at 22p avoided grid rate, worth around £46,200 a year. Under a PPA the hotel pays 15p to 18p per solar kWh for 20 to 25 years and never owns it.

7 year Hybrid HP

£59,542 a year, then the hotel owns the system

10 year Hybrid HP

£46,199 a year, then the hotel owns the system

Based on a £310,000 planning cost at an illustrative 8% a year, annual instalments, no inflation or degradation. Illustrative commercial model dated 29 September 2026, not a quotation, offer or guarantee. Cost, rate and trading income are confirmed by survey and the finance provider.
